Wow! You don't have to be a farmer to receive agricultural subsidy
All you need is to rent a barren land and keep it in good condition, you dont even need to own any wellies, just sit back and watch your money grow
We actually thought subsidies were only being enjoyed by a small group of people (who have been referred to as 'cabals') in some country which we will not mention. So it was to our surprise while watching Panorama on TV last night, to discover that in such a civilised and upright country such as the Great Britain, there are loopholes in obtaining agricultural subsidies even if you don't own a farm! Ok, try to follow, this is how it works:
Farmers receive financial support in the form of a government subsidy for every
hectare of land they have. They can then sell on the right - or entitlement - to claim that subsidy. In such a deal the farmer receives a lump from the purchaser of the entitlement
- who can then rent land and go on to claim the government subsidy.
The investors who buy these entitlements and then claim the subsidy can make profits
of up to 30% a year. People have been making millions of pounds from this loophole.
Andy Wightman, a land reform campaigner, told Panorama: "It's a system
that's broken, a system that's corrupt, a system that's been abused, and public
money that's going to people who frankly don't need it."
