Joseph Kony: An African warlord who recruited 66,000 child soldiers!
If you haven't heard of Kony, he is a ruthless African guerilla leader, intent on evading justice. KONY 2012 is a half hour documentary, based on Joseph Kony - a warlord in Uganda responsible for the enslavement of more than 30,000 children.
Joseph Kony recruited up to 66,000 child soldiers in the past two
decades. His troops often come into villages and kill the adults then rape the
girls and force the boys to fight in his army. He forced others to kill their own parents to
sever ties with their families before being recruited into his Lord's
Resistance Army.
A-list celebrities such as Justin Bieber, Rihanna, Will Smith, Oprah
Winfrey and P Diddy have joined an online campaign to make Kony's many crimes
known to all and hunt him down.
A video was launched on Monday by U.S. filmmaker Jason Russell, who first travelled to Uganda eight years ago and met Jacob Acaye, who was abducted at the age of 11 to join Kony's army. The video has been viewed over 68million times!
